Akufuna Muyunda

Akufuna Muyunda is a Pan Africanist with over 10 years’ experience in advocating for youth development, climate justice, and environmental sustainability. He has an educational background in ecology, climate leadership, diplomatic practice, protocol, and public relations. Trained by Al Gore, the former US vice president and chairman of the Climate Reality Project, Akufuna has since offered training to over 3,000 community leaders who have since distributed solar lighting, clean cooking, and agricultural solutions services to over 100,000 households in Zambia. Akufuna has provided leadership in renewable energy entrepreneurship, tree planting, community mobilization, climate education, policy advocacy, and climate action campaigns. His commitment to raising the voice of young people led to his appointment as country representative for the Chatham House’s Common Futures Conversation project in Zambia, responsible for researching and implementing youth programs that build competencies and support positive leadership and character enrichment through dialogue and opportunity sharing between young people from Africa and Europe. As an elected co-chairperson of the Resilient40 Africa and founder of the Young Volunteers for Environment Zambia, Akufuna is determined to raise the voice and impact of youth in an effort to build a climate-resilient Africa.
