Shafeea Zubair

Shafeea Zubair has spearheaded transformative initiatives for access to education, institution building, leadership for women, teacher education, literacy, non formal education, and skills training for youth employment in The Maldives. Shafeea led the initial concept planning for the Institute for Teacher Education and the establishment of the Non-Formal Education Center and the Maldives Polytechnic. She was appointed by
President Nasheed as chair of the Maldives Polytechnic Council and codesigned the National Skills Training Program HUNARU in 2011 to place 8,500 young people in employment in the Maldives.She also co-designed the 2020 Zambian Climate Leadership Summit. Shafeea’s current work is directed toward leadership for social transformation, advocacy for social justice and leadership for climate action.
